Xilisoft DVD Creator FAQs

  • Q:
After I load my video files into the program, I can only get to know their title, resolution. Is it possible that I can get more information items of them?
  • A:
Please open "Settings-Preference". In the following dialog-box, you can find an area which is called "Visible column". You can select/check whatever item you want to see in the program.
  • Q:
I just load totally 3GB files into the program and I know the capability of a DVD disk should be 4.7GB. But why I was told that the burning can not be finished because there is not enough free space on the DVD disk?
  • A:
Generally speaking, after your video files are burned into standard DVD, which means you can play the final disc on your TV DVD player, the content on the disk will be definitely larger than the original video files since DVD is not compressed. So maybe your original files are only 3GB, but the final DVD content will be much larger. Please note what "Volume info" shows for the final output size. If it is not in blue, you can not finish the burning with all the files you loaded.
  • Q:
I load many file items into the program. Is it possible to adjust the sequence of them? The sequence of them will affect the sequence of titles after burning.
  • A:
There are two buttons on the main interface, "Up" and "Down". Please highlight the loaded file which you want to adjust first and then you can move it up or down by the corresponding buttons.
  • Q:
What kind of DVD disk does your program support, DVD+R or DVD-R? How about RAM disk or double-layer disk?
  • A:
Our software can support DVD+R/RW and DVD-R/RW. If the RW disk which you use is not empty, after show you certain notice before the burning job, our software will erase all the content on the disk. But our software can not support RAM disk, as well as double-layer disk now.
  • Q:
Can I get an ISO file with your program so that I can use it in my virtual drive? And how?
  • A:
Of course our software can help you with this job. After your video files are loaded into the program, you can get it done by "Burn ISO" item offered in the "Tool" menu of the program. Or you can also do it by the option offered in "File-Burn". You can get an ISO file which can be used by your virtual DVD drive or Nero.
  • Q:
What is "Temp Folder"? I found this option in the "Settings-Preference". When I try to adjust it to another folder, I get following message: "You have selected a directory that is not empty. The contents in the directory will be deleted when creating DVD. Make sure that you want to select the folder anyway". What does it mean? Will anything be kept in this directory after burning?
  • A:
During the burning process, our software needs some free space on your hard drive to save the temp contents before they are burned into DVD. After the burning is done, all the temp contents will be deleted automatically by our program.
The notice you mentioned is just to inform you that the current folder you select for temp file is not empty. There are files or sub-directories in it. If you confirm the message our program shows, the files and sub-directories in this folder will be deleted. Please be sure that none of them is of use until you click "Yes".
  • Q:
When I click the red button on the main interface to burn a DVD, I got following message that "There is not enough space in the disc. Please select another temp directory use "Preference" in the "settings" menu". Why? And how can I correct it?
  • A:
Please open "Settings-Preference" and then select another directory for "Temp" there. Maybe the current directory which you want to use as temp directory does not have enough free space to afford temp contents of burning. Generally speaking, you should select a drive which at least has 3 GB free space for burning temp.

  • Q:
    what does "DVD Folder" mean?
  • A:
Actually, it is a backup tool for your new created DVD. If you use "Burn DVD Folder" item, which can be found in the "Tool" menu, you will get two folders in the output directory you set, "Video_TS" and "Audio_TS". In the "Video_TS" folder, you will find VOB files, IFO files and BUP files, etc. They will form a standard DVD if you burn them into a DVD disk by any other burning program.

  • Q:
After I finish the burning, I can watch the DVD movie on my PC by certain player, such as Power DVD, Win DVD, etc. But I can not play it on my DVD Player. Why?
  • A:
Please open "Settings-Preference" and check which playback mode you select there, PAL or NTSC. It must be the same as the settings of the DVD Player which you are using. If they are not uniform, you will not be able to play the burned DVD on your DVD Player. Your DVD player should also provide such option to select.

  • Q:
My original video is in 16:9. But after burning, I got 4:3. How can I correct it?
  • A:
The output video aspect setting option can also be found in the "Settings-Preference". The default one is 4:3. If you want 16:9, please select it in the list.

  • Q:
I am not satisfied with the final burning quality. Is it possible for me to improve it?
  • A:
Please open "Settings-Preference" and then select "High Quality" for video setting. The default one is "Medium". The output DVD quality will be better if you select "High".

  • Q:
I like the DVDs I burned with your program to have the volume names I want. Is it possible to edit the final disc volume instead of what has been offered?
  • A:
Of course you can. After you select the background for the menu of the DVD, please run "File-Burn". You can edit the volume information on the top of the following dialog-box.

  • Q:
Sometimes when I burn a DVD, in the middle of the process, the program shows "Failed to open DVD Drive" and then the burning is stopped. How can I correct it?
  • A:
Maybe your original files have been in very high quality. The bit rate of your files would be in a higher value. In such conditions, the burning can not be completed if you still set "High Quality" in "settings-Preference". You'd better just use the default one, "Medium" for your burning job.
